Due to its strong liquid absorption capacity, SAP can absorb tens of times to one hundred times the weight of the liquid, its water absorption speed, high rate, safe and non-toxic, cheap and easy to obtain raw materials and other advantages, it is widely used in diapers absorption core layer.
The largest application area of SAP is the health industry, where the products used, in order of size, are baby diapers, children's training pants, adult incontinence products and women's sanitary pads. In developed countries, diapers for babies account for 77% of SAP consumption, and incontinence products for adults account for 10%, accounting for nearly 90% of total SAP consumption, while the proportion of SAP consumption in China is only about 60%. With the rapid development of infant and adult diaper industry, SAP market demand will also increase dramatically. At present, SAP costs account for about 20% of each diaper. The diaper weighs 30-40g/ piece, with SAP generally 8-12g. According to the average 10g/ piece and 30,000 yuan/ton, SAP accounts for about 0.3 yuan/piece of the cost of the diaper.
At present, the annual demand for Chinese baby diapers and diapers is only about 25 billion yuan. It is worth noting that the infant diaper market penetration rate in China is only about 30%, while the penetration rate of diapers in overseas markets such as North America and Japan has reached 95%.
Domestic market penetration rate of adult incontinence products is less than 3%, while in Japan, where adult incontinence products are mature, the rate is as high as 80%.
According to the forecast of the Household Paper Industry Association, the per capita diapers for infants under 2 years old should be calculated conservatively at 3 pieces per day, and the market penetration rate should be estimated at 60%, and the consumption of infant diapers will reach about 30 billion pieces in 2020. Using the relatively optimistic estimate of more than 6 tablets per day in developed countries in Europe, Japan and the United States, consumption will increase by three to four times by 2020. Adult incontinence products are another area that will see significant growth downstream of SAP.
